08-08-08 Olympic Beijing 2008 Opening Fever Craze

It's still 08-08-08 now, being in Jakarta. It's approximately 11.40pm here. I've just return from watching the Beijing Olympic opening from another's colleague's unit. Me along with a bunch of colleagues had been running around the whole nite to watch it live.

Being in Indo this particular special moments really sucks. The live telecast could not be broadcasted to our unit due to some network problem. It was a local channel. Somehow or rather due to us being in apartment we sort of shared the network connections of those local channels. And perhaps the olympic being the most important thing on tv somehow not all of us are lucky enough to tune in.

We went from one house to another looking for a place to watch the opening show. My unit for a moment there could actually tune in clearly but when we try to switch the channel and switch it back we were no longer able to tune it back again. We then gave up and one of my colleague called a housemate of hers and to our joy, her unit now can tune in to the channel. Before we were there we had actually went to a karaoke place just to watch it. Some of us actually ordered drinks just to watch there. It's a good thing I did not order and went back home to test out the connections. Though with some running around we eventually actualli manage to settle down to watch it at my colleague unit. Another great thing abt of watching it at my colleague's house besides the comfortable sofa is that we even got free ice cream ! :D

Overall, the Beijing olympics opening ceremony was quite interesting. If only we could watch it from head to tail rather than a bit there n there. Thou we did not miss the fireworks.. but it's quite a bore watching the parade of each country marching in. The biggest dissapointment was missing the Malaysian team. HAHA.. anyhow almost at the end we saw them !! Just a glimpse.. but better than nothing lah ! :P

Another colleague is goin to download the full show by tonite hopefully. The entire show did not end as early as this, now they are still broadcasting it but being in Indonesia again we got no chance to watch the secondary show of international and chinese famous singer like Jackie Chan, Lee Hom to perform. Hopefully we can in a few days time. :D

Today has been a jolly playful day, most of us are really excited of today being 08-08-08 a somewhat properous and nice date especially for chinese, and also to watch the olympic opening!
The fever has started early yesterday and everyone planned to leave the office asap to be home to watch it.

Also today some creative colleagues of mine actualli duped a logo of the olympics and modify it by putting subsituting it with a face of one of our colleague too. It was funny and everyone decided to use it as our avatar pic for our gtalk the entire day. It's been a culture here to post pic/symbols of a particular person just to irritate or make fun of a person... haha

See... it's sooo creative !!!

Overall it's quite an enjoyable day, being my 1st time watching something with so many ppl at once.. haha though we eventually break into few halves and watching it at different places it is certainly better than watching it alone. If we really can tune in properly all together that would be the best. Perhaps next time eh ? Well... we'll see.. for now.. I'll be leaving Jakarta soon, going back to KL with lesser people gathering and living at the same place. However it's part of life..there's always pros n cons but for the moment.. I'll prefer to get some change of air :P..
