Men as Cooks

Whenever there's a weekend or public holiday in Jakarta, we would be having activities outside. Last Thursday after lunch, i ventured out for some karaoke sessions with a bunch of our collegues.

After the singing sessions, we headed home and decides what's for dinner as we waited patiently some one suggested to have a home cooked meal instead, and that a particular guy will cook fried bihun for dinner as most of us aren't really hungry as we have ordered and had quite a lot of titbits and snacks during our singing sessions before that.

So decision was made, and off we go to Hero(the supermarket) to get our ingredients. There were 4 guys and 4 gals all together. For change, the one that is interested in preparing the meal is the guys. Finally !...

During our shop in Hero, we noticed that is the 4 guys that are running around getting the ingredients while the remaining 4 gals just stands there, inspecting or rather chatting away..haha... wow.. how time has changed. Now the guys do the marketing and even cooking.. It was a great feeling. As previously, with another bunch of colleagues, the gals do everything from the marketing to the cooking while the guys just sits around, dun really bother to help and only do the dishes when they are asked to.

However last thursday was a different experience altogether. The men bought, prepared, cooked and even cleaned everything. We just basically sat down, watch tv n enjoy the meal. A simple fried bihun turn out to be a full course meal with fruits and mocktails as desserts.

It was an outing from 2pm till 9pm. Tiring but somewhat fun. It's something better than lazying at home with nothing much to do. :)

Here's the outcome of their cooking. Pretty decent looking, taste good too. Haha. Fried Bihun & Fried bean sprouts with salt fish. They even prepared chilies and some chopped garlic for the bihun. Amazing!
